Commack High School Girls Varsity Volleyball vs. Copiague
Caught the Commack girls volleyball team in a win over Copiague.
The Commack north gym is yellow. But not just yellow, it’s YELLOW. Which basically means that the light reflecting off the walls gives everything a yellow color cast. This is especially apparent on the players’ skin tones, so this requires some color correction in post-processing.
Correcting using white balance won’t cut it, although it helps to start out with the correct custom white balance for that room. What you really need to do is neutralize the color cast. How you do this depends on your image editing software and how your camera interprets this color cast.
I use the color balance tool in Capture One to add more blue tones to the overall image (remember, blue is the opposite of yellow on the color wheel). I’ll then use the color editor tool to select the yellow wall the desaturate that color slightly until the skin tones look as normal as possible.
It’s not perfect but it’s as good as your going to get until they change the paint job.
