Commack High School Girls Varsity Basketball vs Walt Whitman - Quarterfinal
The Commack girls basketball season came to an end with this game but they had a great run. I had lots of fun photographing them throughout the season.
I think this was my first time photographing inside at Whitman. Easy to photograph; very difficult to color correct. This was a noon game and daylight was pouring in through the windows on either side of the gym. The light was pretty bright; I was down to ISO 2500 in some spots, which was great. The challenge came afterward in post processing. The daylight wasn’t playing well with the house lights. The tubes in the ceiling were a much warmer temperature, as expected and also slightly greenish. The gym floor was an unusually dark stain, almost a mahogany, which reflected reddish light up onto the players. So, depending on where on the court the players were, their skin tones could be yellow, red or blue or a combination of one or more. I probably would have had a much easier time if it was a night game.
