And away we go! First gallery of the spring sports season.
I don’t usually shoot scrimmages but there’s an early yearbook deadline in the spring so you need to get whatever you can get. The goal is to get one gallery of every sport before the deadline, which ain’t easy given the typical spring weather. But, hey, I give it my best shot.
This was one of those “not a cloud in the sky” days so the light is extremely contrasty and anything on the shady side has a strong blue color cast from the sky. This applies to just about all the shots in the first half of the game. Lots of color correction in post can minimize this problem.
For outdoor field sports like lacrosse, I program my AF-ON button to “Focus Lock”. That way if the play is on the opposite side of the field I can acquire focus on our goalie and press and hold the AF-ON button to keep it locked on her hoping to catch a save. I was able to get a few of those in this game.
