Commack High School Boys Varsity Swimming
This swim meet definitely set the record for my shortest sports event ever.
Commack only had two swimmers at this meet and, judging from the total number of swimmers participating, I doubt any of the other schools had many more. In fact, there were few enough swimmers that they had enough open lanes to run a couple of events concurrently. No divers either. We started on time at 4:30pm and I was walking back to my car by 5:00pm.
So … not a big gallery. On the plus side, having to follow only two swimmers made my job quite easy. They each swam in only one event, one in the 50 free and one in the 100 breast so I could concentrate on one lane. I even got lucky and got a few shots of the 50 free, which is notoriously difficult to photograph because of the flying spray and the swimmers not needing to take many breaths.
All of these images were taken with a Sony a1 and 135mm prime lens. Exposure was 1/1000 sec. @ f/2.0, auto-ISO. I turned off face/eye recognition because it doesn’t do well with spray.
