Commack High School Boys Varsity Soccer vs. Newfield - Senior Day
Another win for Commack boys soccer, this time on senior day, which is always nice.
The sun was extremely bright for most of this game, so much so that I ended up shooting most of the first half from midfield to keep from shooting into the sun. As the days get shorter these 5:00pm start times get more challenging to photograph. You’re either contending with bright sunlight or, at the end of the game, no sunlight. This can make for some cool looking photos when the players are side-lit but not so much when they’re back lit. You could stick to just one side of the field for the whole game but sometimes there’s not a lot of action at one of the goals, which was the case for this game.
For bright, sunny conditions you really have to expose for the highlights to keep from completely blowing out the skin tones. Your images will look very underexposed but it’s much easier to bring up the shadows in post than to attempt to resurrect blown out highlights.
